Dr. Leahu Dental Clinics launches today the nineteenth dental center from the network, in Bucharest, after an investment of 800,000 euros. The clinic is located in Piața Alba-Iulia and it is the second largest of the network’s eight dental clinics in the capital.

The space has 740 square meters and accommodates twelve offices, operator theatre, radiology and area dedicated to children’s services, which integrate gamification technology, according to the concept of “Space Academy” Dr. Leahu.

“We are preparing for an inflow of patients with simple cases, we are investing in as many dental practices as possible to treat them and we continue to lobby for the settlement of services by the State or the employer, through dental subscriptions. In the business model we are shifting the focus from treatment to prevention, because more than half of children and young people under the age of 17 do not access the treatment recommended by the dentist and the consequences can be seen in adult life, when dental implants are required in most cases. Even though we have built the network and we have the utmost experience in treating complex cases, we believe that industry leadership is also expressed in terms of investments in inexpensive cases treatment, but which ensure long-term dental health”, states Dr. Ionuț Leahu, CEO and founder of Dr. Leahu Dental Clinics.

The majority of patients over 50 years old most often request dental implants (15%) and prostheses (14%), shows the most extensive analysis of the company, which interpreted the data of about 50,000 patients who accessed, in the last 18 months, about 500,000 services in Dr. Leahu clinics from all over the country. Even young people under the age of 30 come to the dentist with conditions that already require root canal treatments (18%), because they were not treated at an earlier age, says the doctor: “If you don’t go to the dentist starting with the first tooth, you end up having at the age of 35 the problems that usually occur after the age of 65. This is what our analysis shows, young adults to whom we have to perform extractions at 20 years old, because by then, at least half of them have had cavities. It’s vital to have a national programme for children’s health”.

The latest Kantar study, order by Dr. Leahu Dental Clinics confirmed for the fourth year in a row that a third of parents still do not take their children to the dentist, most of them due to lack of money. Even those who take their children to the dentist do not respect the opinion of the specialist: 57% of the dental services that the children needed, were not accessed by the parents. The biggest difference occurs among dental treatments with braces (77.69%), sealings (65.55%) and dental fillings (61.30%).

The data of patients who treated themselves in the company’s clinics show that the incidence of tooth decay in children under 10 years of age is still extremely high and half of them suffer from this condition.
