Statistics of REGINA MARIA The Healthcare Network reveal that its laboratories have processed over 74,000 RT-PCR tests for the diagnosis of COVID-19 so far, 64% of which belong to female patients. 2% of the total tests processed in the 3 molecular biology labs of the network had a positive result for the infection with the new coronavirus.

Patients from all over the country have been tested in the REGINA MARIA laboratories with the help of a team of 20 specialists. Tests were performed for all age groups, from infants to patients aged 98. 23% of the tests have been performed for patients over 60 years of age, who belong to the risk group. With an average result validation time of 1.41 days, 31% of the results were validated on the day of testing.

Most tests were performed in Bucharest – 26,803, followed by Brasov – 8,263 tests, Cluj – 7,790 tests, Prahova – 5,562 tests, and Valcea – 5,471 tests.

“In the light of the relaxation of the isolation measures imposed by the authorities, the need for additional testing has also increased. REGINA MARIA Central Laboratory continues to work 24/7, increasing the testing capacity to 1,210 tests/ day”, says Dr. Andreea Alexandru, Primary Laboratory Physician, Chief Physician of the Bucharest Central Laboratory and Medical Director at the REGINA MARIA Clinical Laboratories Division.

REGINA MARIA was the first private laboratory to be involved in the free testing of front-line medical staff, supporting public hospitals in the COVID-19 patient management effort. So far, 64 public hospitals have benefited from free RT-PCR tests, following an investment of over 2,600,000 lei, with the help of private partners.

REGINA MARIA laboratories process both RT-PCR tests for the diagnosis of COVID-19 and serological tests to determine the immune response.
