Ford EcoSport sales put Craiova’s SUV on fifth place in Europe

Ford EcoSport, the SUV produced in Craiova, has managed to surpass the sales of Opel Mokka, one of the few B segment SUVs that provide 4×4 traction and recorded sales of 11,845 units in June and more than 55,000 in the first six months, according to Jato Dynamics data.

The Craiova produced Ford SUV reached fifth place in the European B-SUV segment, after Renault Captur (26,630 units in June), Dacia Duster (19,583 units), Peugeot 2008 (18,619 units) and VW T-Roc (16,672).

EcoSport outpaced sales of Opel Mokka, a SUV with 4×4 capabilities, the only one alongside Dacia Duster.

The other models, including Renault Captur are just crossovers with SUV features with a higher ground clearance.

Ford EcoSport was launched in production at the end of 2017 and was launched during the first months of this year on most European markets.

At present, the two SUVs manufactured in Romania, Dacia Duster and Ford EcoSport, have a volume of about 30,000 units a month and for the first six months of 2018, the two models reached over 150,000 units registered in the European Union.
