Entrepreneur Mădălin Tomescu launches Kuziini concept-store, the only kitchen showroom in Romania operational 100% digital

The Romanian entrepreneur Mădălin Tomescu launched Kuziini, the only custom-made kitchens concept-store operational 100% digital, following a net investment of approximately 1,000,000 lei. The founder of Kuziini has over 20 years of business experience in the furniture industry, where he has developed several businesses in the segment of production of residential and commercial furniture, intended for hotels, shops, company offices and universities.


The concept store Kuziini works without staff, and the access of the customers is made through a face recognition system installed at the entrance. In this way, customers, whether they are architects or end users, have access to the showroom 24 hours a day, seven days out of seven.

Inside, with the help of several workstations, customers connect to a platform where they can configure their kitchen in the smallest details, and its cost will be generated automatically. For any question, the user just needs to press a button, and he will be connected on live chat with an architect from the Kuziini call-center, who will help him in the process of designing the kitchen.

In the showroom there is a scanner that measures the height of the end user, so that the kitchen is designed in such a way that the cabinets are easily accessible by the beneficiary. Kuziini also provides customers with another high-performance scanner, which once placed in the center of the kitchen in the customer’s home, scans all the details related to the room (including whether the walls are straight or not), so no further measurements are needed for the design of the kitchen.

”The absolute novelty is Qsimo, an operating and customer support system: it is enough to touch an object in the showroom and you will receive information about it, through the system audio or video. This interactive system, together with all the other technological details in our business model, have the role of significantly reducing the time that a customer allocates for the design of the kitchen he wants. We all know that for Romanian customers, the kitchen is the most important space in the house, and we want a simple purchase experience”, says Mădălin Tomescu, founder of Kuziini, who estimates a turnover of one million euros for the first year of operation.

The average budget that Romanians allocate for the purchase of a premium kitchen can reach 10,000 euros, and the delivery is made in maximum 25 working days (compared to the average duration of 60-90 days), regardless of the complexity of the kitchen. Based on an application, the customer constantly receives information regarding the status of its order, just like in the case of online orders. The kitchen comes with all the ready-made cutouts (including those for home appliances), so the installation takes about 3 hours (compared to the average duration of 8-10 hours).

Kuziini has two complex production units in Romania and Bulgaria, equipped with modern technology and automated lines. Once the customer orders a kitchen, he is connected in real time with the factory and sees all the stages of the production process.

”Technology and innovation will bring significant changes in the coming years in the local furniture industry, as is already the case in other countries. The step towards automation decisively influences the evolution of any business and gives major advantages to entrepreneurs who have the courage to do things differently. There are already many examples abroad of fully automated concepts in the retail industry, which were very quickly adopted by customers. On the FMCG retail segment, stores without employees have also appeared in Romania, opened by very large retailers. This is the future,” says Mădălin Tomescu, founder of Kuziini.

The concept-store inaugurated yesterday (14th October) in the Unirii area (Bd. Unirii 63)  of Bucharest is the first in a chain that Mădălin Tomescu wants to develop throughout the country: next year three other locations will be opened in Cluj, Timisoara and Iasi. The entrepreneur also plans to develop a franchise system in the coming years.
