Econos: We aim to become the most important consulting company for sustainable development solutions in Romania in the next 2 years

Econos, a consulting company that offers sustainable development solutions for corporations in Romania, targets to become the most important player in this market till the end of 2023. The company aims to reach revenues of EUR 50,000 this year.

Econos was launched in 2020 and is a company that provides environmental protection auditing services. Subsequently, the company offers widespread sustainable, profitable and scalable development solutions such as installation of solar panels, use of electric car charging stations, use of recycled bottles, logistics software, sustainability team building activities, waste management services, the use of reconditioned smartphones and applications combatting food waste.

The consulting company was founded by Mathieu Gregori, a 23-year-old Frenchman of Chinese and Vietnamese origins and a graduate of a Master in Environmental Policy at The Paris School of International Affairs of Sciences Po. Until now, the founder of Econos has conducted internships in both the public and the private sector in countries such as France, Romania, Israel, Cameroon, Mexico, and Brazil.

Target: to become the most important company in Romania that offers carbon footprint consultancy services

“The environmental audits usually reflect two major environmental problems in Romania: an ineffective public waste management system and an energy production which mostly relies on fossil fuels. Our goal is to work with corporations in Romania so that they can make the transition towards a circular sustainable economy and that in 2023 to become the most important company that offers services regarding the carbon footprint. By the end of this year, we aim to measure the level of carbon emissions for 20 customers and to increase our range of services by adding five more partners”, says Mathieu Gregori, founder of Econos.

Currently, the company has four customers from fields such as food retail (Cora Romania), renewable energies (Renovatio), event planning (BPM Global), and a Mobile application (Happy Hour). By the end of the year, the management aims to work with another 15 clients, especially the CSR departments of large companies.

“My experience at the Environmental Department of a large consulting firm showed me that the major occupation of big consultancies is regarding tax optimization, especially on waste management taxonomy. Econos’s approach is different as we are specialized in carbon assessments and profitable greenhouse gases reduction solutions. Romanian companies are often curious about their greenhouse gases emissions especially when it is the first time they conduct one. We offer a free environmental audit to democratize carbon assessments, an essential tool to create private and/or public policies of greenhouse gases reduction” adds Mathieu Gregori.

Furthermore, starting in 2023 the entrepreneur wants to expand Econos in countries such as the new member states of the European Union and to the Persian Gulf countries. Some of these countries are Moldova, Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, Ukraine, Turkey, Lebanon, Israel, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, United Arab Emirates.
