Daikin’s number one distributor in Romania, Avi Compact, is expecting to close 2018 with a 5 percent growth in turnover. Sales of R32 eco-friendly Freon equipment increased by 60 percent compared to last year. Daikin represents 80 percent of the integrated solutions sold, while the remaining 20 percent are from Samsung and Carrier.

Furthermore, the corporate segment has the most important contribution to turnover, of approximately 75 percent, while the residential segment has slightly decreased compared to 2017.

“In 2018, we continued to collaborate on the corporate segment with customers in the banking, farm and tourism area, but we also have new projects in the industrial area, such as the new ALKA headquarters, an innovative project in terms of integrated climate solutions. As a trend, we’re noticing a growing customer interest in efficient and less polluting air conditioning systems that use the R32 ecological freon, four times less polluting than the R410A freon. Our partner Daikin is one of the few manufacturers that have made the decision to change their entire range of residential products according to the new European pollution standards,” says Florin Radulescu, CEO of Avi Compact.

Three months ago, Avi Compact launched the online shop www.avicompactonline.ro. The most sought after and best sold equipment on the online platform are those that work with the new R32 freon and the Wi-Fi interface. The number of online customers represents about 20 percent of sales to the residential segment.

In 2018, Avi Compact has completed several new business projects, including one in France, in partnership with a construction company on the Côte d’Azur. The first project at Cannes was for a residential purpose.

For next year, Avi Compact aims to run at least 4-5 projects outside the country.

Compared to 2017, the season sales of air conditioning equipment were shorter due to the rains and the short period of heat.

“In addition to the bad weather this year, the lack of skilled labor is also a factor that has influenced the market. To cover the need for employees, we took off jobs in the off-season and started investing in the training of our employees. Significant cost increases for certain segments – fuel, wages, materials, but also the reduction of freon quotas imposed by the European Union – will continue to be major challenges for the country’s market,” says Radulescu.

For 2019, sales in the residential segment and maintenance services are projected to increase. Avi Compact has been on the market for 15 years and has been Daikin’s distributor in Romania for 12 years Daikin.
