After a decade since the launch of Brikston brand, the manufacturer of masonry and finishing materials, Brikston Construction Solution, estimates that it will reach a turnover of EUR 20 million in 2018. Over the past 10 years, the sections have been operating at maximum capacity, and the production of brick was doubled. At the same time, the company plans to increase the value of exports to the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine up to EUR 2 million.

Brikston is the trademark of bricks and ceramic blocks produced by the company and represents over 90 percent of the yearly turnover. The company has over 50 years of experience and over 200 employees.

In 2007, the majority stake in Ceramica SA was taken over by the private investment fund, when major changes were made in the company. Thanks to major investments in production lines, branding and R & D, Brikston has reached an annual sales volume of approximately 350,000 cubic meters of brick and ceramic blocks, more than double compared to 2007.

“Brikston, one of the best-known brands in the brick market, was created in 2008 with Brandient’s support, when Ceramica SA was transformed from a local operator into a national producer. The decision to enter that year on the Romanian market with a new brand was a strategic one, based on a new need for company and product identity,” said Iulian Mangalagiu, CEO of Brikston Construction Solution.

Due to the fact that 85 percent of Brikston sales are in the residential segment that has steadily increased in recent years, the company’s business has been on an upward trend. These results also included the expansion of the distribution network, with the Brikston brand being present at over 250 dealerships across the country as well as in DIY chains such as Dedeman, Leroy Merlin, BricoDepot, Hornbach, but also in the online store company.

“We are in full season at this time. The residential market is growing rapidly in all areas of the country, especially in Bucharest, Cluj, Timisoara, Braşov and Iaşi, and we estimate an increase in the market between 5-10 percent by the end of the year. Benefiting from geographical positioning, we are easily serving the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, where we intend to increase the volume of exports to 10 percent of this year’s turnover,” added Mangalagiu.

In 2018, Brikston focused on improving efficiency and productivity in various industry sectors, investing more than EUR 1 million in machinery purchases, product portfolio optimization and R & D

“The concern for environmental protection is at the center of our attention and we want to be leaders in this chapter as well. The increase in utility costs over the past two years motivates us to develop building materials of superior quality in terms of energy efficiency. We are moving fast towards 2020 when new residential projects will have to comply with European legislation by reducing energy consumption to near zero, and this will have a significant impact in the transformation of the building materials industry,” said Mangalagiu.
