The air conditioning equipment market is set to grow this year as well, with energy efficiency being the main driving factor. Avi Compact experts estimate that the residential sector will experience the highest growth due to the replacement of old equipment, which has become worn out and consumes a significant amount of energy. This category of customers represents approximately 70% of the total. Over 50% of air conditioning unit requests come from metropolitan areas such as Bucharest and Constanta, followed by Cluj and Iasi.

“We are already witnessing a change in the behavior of residential customers. They are interested in highly energy-efficient equipment that comes with intelligent features such as airflow optimization technologies, air purification, or smart control systems. The cost for such high-performance devices starts at 2,900 lei. Additionally, while last year over 50% of customers chose units with higher capacity to provide cooling for multiple rooms, now customers are opting for units tailored to each individual space, thereby increasing comfort levels,” says Marian Pandele, Executive Director of Avi Compact.

Avi Compact specialists recommend that customers regularly maintain their air conditioning units. This ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of the units up to 15 years. Unfortunately, less than 30% of customers take advantage of such services.

Last year, approximately 220,000 air conditioning units were sold, with a total value of 90,645,000 euros. Avi Compact held a market share of over 20% of the air conditioning units sold by Daikin last year.

Government financing programs for photovoltaic panels and the rising price of natural gas continue to drive demand for heat pumps this year, at the expense of traditional heating systems. This segment is expected to grow by at least 100% in 2023. It is estimated that heat pumps will be installed in 10-15% of newly constructed homes. Currently, the highest sales are recorded in Bucharest and Cluj.

The corporate segment is experiencing growth, estimated at 20-25% compared to the previous year.

“The growth primarily stems from replacing older equipment with new, energy-efficient, and cost-effective models. Moreover, in 2023, over 50% of beneficiaries in this segment have requested the installation of remote temperature control equipment, ensuring operation within a well-defined range. The maintenance segment remains constant, with over 80% of corporate clients opting for this service,” explains Florin Rădulescu, Founder of Avi Compact.

This year, Avi Compact celebrates 20 years of activity, with prominent clients including ART SAFARI, Farmexim, Informatica Feroviară, A&D Pharma (Dr Max), and Hotel Kronwell Brașov.

Last year, the company achieved a turnover of over 12.5 million euros. For the 15th consecutive year, Avi Compact remains the largest Daikin distributor in Romania.
