Over 190,000 used and new cars registered in Romania in the first 4 months of 2019

Over 190,000 new and used cars were registered in the first four months of this year in Romania, according to the Driving License and Vehicle Registration institution (DRPCIV). 

Of the 190,000 units almost 146,000 are used cars, while 34,000 were registered as new cars. Compared to January – April 2018, car registrations fell by 1.57 percent this year.

In the total of new cars registered in April, most submissions were for the following brands:

  • Dacia – 2,239 units (+ 26.5 percent compared to April 2018)
  • Renault – 733 units (+ 40.7 percent)
  • Volkswagen – 697 units (-5.56 percent)
  • Skoda – 654 units (-12.7 percent)
  • Ford – (560 units, -18.6 percent)

At the same time, the fewest new registrations registered in April 2019 were recorded for:

  • SsangYong –  10 units
  • Smart – 9 units
  • Alfa Romeo – 7 units
  • Bentley – 4 units,
  • Lamborghini – 3 units
  • Maserati – 3 units
  • Ferrari – 2 units
  • Lada – 2 units
  • Aston Martin – 1 unit
  • Rolls Royce – 1 unit

On the part of used cars, the top 4 is comprised of German cars as follows:

  1. Volkswagen – 35,751 units
  2. Opel – 13,505 units
  3. BMW – 14,572 units
  4. Audi  – 13,825 units
  5. Ford – 12,172 units
