Bosch is in talks with local authorities in Cluj to test autonomous cars in Cluj-Napoca. As part of the move, the company plans to build a testing track for autonomous cars.

The tests are conducted using the cars with two people on board. At the Cluj Bosch engineering centre, alongside autonomous driving the activities conducted are electrification, connectivity and traditional automotive.

As part of supporting activities Bosch is working on radar and video  systems, at developing autonomous driving functions, technologies based on AI and more. In Cluj all five degrees of a car’s autonomy.

For a few years now, Bosch has been testing in Cluj the soft that will be used in the future on self-driving cars. The cars are always under the control of the driver while the algorithms are tested in several situations, to see which elements they are able to recognise in traffic and how they can be improved.

“The systems are recognising all situations and, you are right, the driving conditions are different in Romania compared to other countries and I believe that driverless cars will start to be run in areas where there will be only autonomous cars, not those driven by human drivers. There will be several areas where there will be autonomous cars, such as for instance in Asian cities where they are making tests,” Dennis Raabe told Hotnews.ro.
