Aon Romania, one of the international leaders in insurance brokerage, is organizing Thursday, December 7th, the Global Risk Management webinar to present the results of the latest study on the risks that companies face. Risk management specialists will discuss the risks that companies face in periods of economic volatility, the need to attract and keep talents in the organization, the impact of cyberattacks, and the risks that generate disruption to the operations of organizations, some of the main problems facing companies globally.

Companies that have adapted to pandemic conditions now face multiple challenges stemming from geopolitical instability, rising inflation, and fluctuating interest rates that lead to the economic slowdown, modify the medium to long-term supply chains, and generate volatility and a lack of predictability, putting pressure on companies’ long-term strategies. Every two years, Aon conducts global surveys to analyze leaders’ perspectives on risk and risk management. This year, the Global Risk Management Survey gathered insights from 2,842 decision-makers, including risk managers, treasurers, and human resources professionals in 16 industries from 61 countries.

”The risks that international companies face range from failure to attract new talent to legislative changes, increased competition, or supply chain issues. However, cybersecurity, business disruption, and economic slowdowns are so volatile and unpredictable that organizations struggle to find optimal ways to respond. As these challenges create numerous difficulties and new vulnerabilities, leaders of organizations need to work together to understand how these risks interconnect”, declares Eugen Anicescu, CEO of Aon Romania.

Compared to previous results, this year is a year of change in the business environment. Failure to attract and retain talent within organizations has risen rapidly, moving up nine places in the rankings and now ranking fourth among the top business risks. In addition, the shortage of skilled and specialized labor is a major impediment slowing down the progress of innovation in companies, simultaneously affecting their competitiveness and ability to adapt quickly to the dynamics of business change.

”Given the international context in which companies face a workforce shortage, organizations are paying increased attention to efforts to attract and retain top talent, and employee benefits are an important element and a differentiating factor. During the pandemic, many companies had to resort to downsizing, but today, the problem is compounded by an aging workforce. Although previous analyses anticipated this situation, the responses to Aon’s survey show that leading global companies are concerned about the issue of human capital. Although previous analyses anticipated this situation, the responses to Aon’s survey show that leading global companies are concerned about the human capital issue”, says Adrian Low-Vesa, Head of Health Solutions, Aon CEE.

In terms of risk mitigation activity, the survey results show the highest level of readiness for the most pressing global issues at 60%, the highest figure in the last 10 years. This shows organizations are increasingly adopting strategies to ensure the continuation of operations regardless of the risks that may arise. The highest percentage was in the cyber risk category at over 80%, followed by business interruption at 75%, material shortages at 65%, and supply chain issues at 63%.

During the event organized by Aon Romania, the company’s representatives will discuss the most prominent risks faced by international companies, their responses to the risks, as well as forecasts for their evolution in the coming years.
