Nuremberg Albrecht Dürer Airport’s route network to Eastern Europe has been continuously expanded in recent years. With Brasov, another destination has now been added. Dan Air is a new airline present at Nuremberg Airport and will fly twice a week to the beautiful Transylvanian city. Furthermore, Bucharest, a destination that is already on the flight schedule, will be added with two more connections, bringing the total to four flights per week.
In addition to official partnerships, Nuremberg has partner relations with other cities and municipalities – including Brasov. In July 2006, a declaration of intent was signed for cooperation and intensification of relations between the two cities.
The city of Brasov, surrounded by the wooded Carpathian Mountains, is located in the heart of Romania and offers both traditional charm and modern life. Within the walls of the old town is the central square with magnificent Gothic and Baroque buildings. From here you can take trips to Prejmer Fortified Church and Dracula Castle in Bran.
Dan Air’s presence extends Nuremberg Airport’s Eastern European services. In Romania alone, five destinations can now be reached by direct flights.
“This is good news not only for the large Romanian community in the metropolitan region, but also for tourists and business travellers”, explains Nuremberg Airport’s General Manager, Dr. Michael Hupe.
In addition to the large Romanian community in the Nuremberg metropolitan region, the automotive and mechanical engineering supplier Schaeffler, for example, has a large production site in the Brasov county.
Councillor Werner Henning, present at the inaugural flight, said: “Given the link between Nuremberg and the friendly municipality of Brasov, I am delighted with the direct connection to the newly opened airport”.
Matt Ian David, CEO of Dan Air and a pilot himself, was on board for the inaugural flight.
