HiSky recorded a significant increase in the number of passengers carried in the first four months of 2023. According to the data reported by the company, over than 260% more passengers flew with HiSky between January and April 2023 compared to the same period of last year.

Before the start of the summer season, the period of the year with the highest volume of air traffic, the data published by the airline confirm not only the consolidation of its position on the market in the region, but also provide clear signals on the long-awaited return of air transport demand to the levels before the pandemic.

In April 2023, HiSky carried 107,000 passengers, the highest number reported for the month since the company was founded. Comparatively, in April 2022, the number of passengers was 40,000. That wasn’t the only impressive rise, in March 2023 passenger numbers reached 61,000, up from just 11,000 in March 2022, a substantial 455% increase. In February, the company reported 47,000 passengers, up from 7,000 in 2022, while in January 2023, HiSky carried 51,000 passengers, compared to 17,000 in 2022.

The accelerated rate of growth is also a direct result of the expansion of the portfolio of operated routes, no less than 12 new domestic and international routes were opened by the company in the last year. In addition, at the beginning of April, two new aircraft, Airbus A321LR, with 201 and 220 seats, respectively, entered the HiSky fleet, which led to an increase in operational capacity by almost 50%.

“These numbers reflect, first of all, the trust that passengers gave us when they chose to fly with us on routes operated by other companies as well. We operate in a highly competitive market, but the fact that we offer a quality service at a fair price, we respect our passengers and try to fulfill our commitments to them is seen today in the market share we have managed to gain. I’m an advocate of solid foundations and that’s what we are trying to build at HiSky. We don’t promise more than we can deliver because ultimately, sustained growth is what matters in the long run. The results from the first part of the year are indeed spectacular but do not fully reflect the impact of the two new aircraft. We are preparing for a busy summer with a transport capacity of almost 1300 seats, so we are sure that the report at the end of the season will present us with new records.”, Iulian Scorpan, CEO of HiSky.

In April, HiSky celebrated the first million passengers transported, in the first two years of operation. Considering the figures recorded in the first months of 2023, the number is expected to exceed 2 million by the end of this year. Currently, HiSky operates direct international flights from Romania departing from the airports of Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Iasi and Baia Mare to Barcelona, Malaga, Tel Aviv, Brussels, Paris and Dublin. From the Republic of Moldova, passengers can travel with HiSky to eight foreign destinations: Milan, Paris, Dublin, Frankfurt, Tel Aviv, Rome, Bologna and Venice. In addition to regular flights, the company is also the main operator of charter flights, in partnership with the most important tour operators in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
