Holcim Romania expands its aggregates division by acquiring Stones Business Development SRL, one of the main aggregates providers for the Bucharest-Ilfov area, the operator of Sălcioara aggregates plant.

With this transaction, Holcim secures a volume of reserves of high quality aggregates and consolidates its position in the Bucharest-Ilfov area, known for having the highest growth in Romania.

The acquisition of the aggregates plant has received the approval of the Competition Council and the transaction was finalized on 31 March 2023.

”The development of the aggregates segment within Holcim is part of our development strategy at the local as well as global level. The aggregates segment represents an important pillar in the development of the construction sector as a whole. Through this acquisition and through its experience of over 25 years in the Romanian market, Holcim Romania will strengthen its position as a provider of integrated solutions on the market through its following business units: cement, ready-mix, aggregates, road binders, filler, precast and AAC. We are happy to extend the Holcim family through a new acquisition that will help us keep up with the fast growing rhythm of the Bucharest-Ilfov construction area”, stated Bogdan Dobre, CEO Holcim România & Market Head Moldova.

Stones Business Development SRL, operating Sălcioara aggregates plant, is one of the most important players in the aggregates segment in the Bucharest-Ilfov area, having 30 employees.

Holcim Romania owns other three aggregate plants located in Stăncești, Gligorești and Corbii Mari, so the integration of Balastiera Sălcioara into Holcim’s operations will be carried out naturally, immediately after the takeover of the company.
