The recent “Connecting Women in Business” organized by OFA UGIR, proved to be a successful event for promoting female entrepreneurship in Romania and showed that women entrepreneurs from Romania have valuable expertise that leads to the development of the society. “I believe in the inner strength and professional capacity of Romanian women and I am convinced that if we join our efforts, we will realize even more valuable projects for Romania,” stated during the event Mioara Iofciulescu, Vice President OFA UGIR.

“Connecting Women in Business powered by OFA UGIR”, an event organized by the Patronage Women Entrepreneurs Organization from UGIR – OFA UGIR in partnership with the Belgium Luxembourg Romania Moldavia Chamber of Commerce (BEROCC), proved to be a particularly important moment for the promotion of female entrepreneurship in Romania. Held on June 27, 2023, in Bucharest, on the elegant terrace of the Swiss Clinics, this event brought together businesswomen from various fields of activity, such as energy, real estate development, insurance, financial services, medicine, art, media, consulting and tourism.

One of the remarkable aspects of the event was the presence of men who recognize the importance and essential contribution of women in the development of the society. “The General Union of Industrialists from Romania supports the involvement of women in all fields of activity and recognizes their merits. I don’t know how you do you do it, but you, women, always manage to materialize everything you set out to do,” said Radu Godeanu, UGIR Vice-President.

“OFA UGIR will develop collaborations and partnerships with associative structures of the private environment, but also with public institutions, counting on the valuable expertise of its members to contribute in strategic areas for Romania”, said Mioara Iofciulescu, Vice President OFA UGIR.

A special moment of the event was presented by Ani Olteanu, partner of LMI Romania, who highlighted the need to establish SMART objectives in the new European context, offering examples of good practices and management tools that contribute to an efficient and sustainable business development. European funding was also brought up, which foresees record amounts that Romania will benefit from until 2027, financial resources that entrepreneurs can access to grow existing businesses or to implement new projects.

Alain Schodts, Executive Director of BEROCC, emphasized the importance and positive impact of the partnership between BEROCC and OFA UGIR in supporting the development of female entrepreneurship. “We are proud to support OFA UGIR in their efforts to promote and develop the entrepreneurial potential of women in Romania. Increasing women’s participation in the business world brings tangible benefits to both the economy and society as a whole,” he said.

The cultural component of the evening was provided by the Bucharest Handmade Art Academy, which organized a mini handmade art exhibition, having as central piece the authentic traditional costume that captured the attention and admiration of the participants. In addition, the Academy offered prizes to the participants, consisting of handmade decorations and jewellery, unique creations of Romanian artisans. To complement the energetic and inspiring atmosphere, ImpACT ART actors performed a moment of theatre that delighted the audience in attendance, demonstrating the power of art to convey messages and unite people around a shared experience.

The “Connecting Women in Business powered by OFA UGIR” event represented a valuable platform for female entrepreneurs in Romania, offering them the opportunity to connect, share experiences and develop sustainable collaborations and partnerships. Through these efforts, Romanian female entrepreneurs have demonstrated that they are strong, talented, and determined to contribute to the progress and economic development of their country. The organization and success of the event is a concrete example of the long-term commitment of the UGIR Women Entrepreneur Organization Patronage and its partners in promoting gender equality and in creating an inclusive and favourable business environment for all entrepreneurs.
