Advancements in technology are forcing companies to change the way the they operate and the way they look at things, said Andrei Georgescu, Partner at Suciu Popa and Associates, at Business Review’s Foreign Investors Summit.
“We will see further changes coming in different industries the way we see the changes in the automotive industry,” said Andrei Georgescu. Automotive is seeing changes in all aspects, from the way it produces cars to the way customers are driving the cars, with technology coming to change everything. Even the way we own a car will change; we will most probably rent rather than buy one.”
“The IT industry today has a concentration of small businesses. Companies that should have in common the use of technology and human resources,” says Georgescu, explaning that there is a need for these companies to work together and share resources in order to cover all of their needs. Companies aren’t the only ones who need to get together in a cluster, but authorities and universities too.
“We can see in Cluj that are business clusters working together. There are companies that have moved from Bucharest to Cluj because they can have a better collaboration with the local authorities. And Cluj is also a university center,” says Andrei Georgescu.
In order to keep up with the digital changes, the industry does not have to be the best at everything, and instead focus on its strengths and use them to their full potential.
“New developments in IT can contribute to the spread and quality increase of educational programs, the creation of a broad portfolio of jobopportunities’ and the build up of a common pool of ‘knowledge’ and resources.”
