Women going for the win at BCR Open Romania

The 2011 BCR Open Romania International Ladies Tennis Tournament kicks off next week, with a line-up of local and international women players going for a total of USD 100.000 in prize money. The event will see Romanian players ranked high in the current world hierarchy play on the Bucharest clay.

 

The tournament will be held at the Herastrau Tennis Academy, which will open its gates in the second half on July for the competition.

The qualifying matches will take place on 16 and 17, and starting from 18 and until 23 July, the main draw matches are scheduled. A total of 32 players, among which some ranked inside the WTA top 100 will be listed in the main singles draw, and 16 teams will compete for supremacy in the doubles draw. Simona Halep, ranked 59 in WTA, and Irina Begu, ranked 60 in WTA, will be playing for the grand prize. Apart from substantial cheque prizes, the winners will also obtain a significant package of no less than 150 points, that will allow them to move up in the WTA Rankings.

Between 16 and 20 July (from the qualifying rounds until the second round inclusive) admission is free to all areas of the Herastrau Tennis Academy, throughout the matches, on a first come, first served basis.

Between 21 and 23 July (quarterfinals, semifinals, final), tickets are required only for the admission to the central arena, the access to the rest of the Herastrau Tennis Academy, including the commercial area, being free of charge.
