Vaclav Havel’s Leaving to be shown in Bucharest on his 75th birthday

Leaving, a recent film directed by Czech writer and politician Vaclav Havel, will be shown in Bucharest on October 5^th during a series of events marking his 75^th birthday. The day’s program includes representations of Citizen Havel, a photography exhibition by Oldrich Skacha, and a conference about Vaclav Havel.

“My health does not allow me to travel, so allow me to say hello from a distance and to thank you for remembering that it is my birthday,” Havel said in a message for Bucharest audiences.

The program for October 5^th

12.00-14.00 A seminar titled Vaclav Havel: writer and playwright. At the Bucharest’s Central University Library Carol I. The event will see the launch of a book compiling Havel’s theater plays.

16.00 A representation of Citizen Havel at the New Cinema of the Romanian Director. Directed by Pavel Koutecky and Miroslav Janek, the 2008 120 minute film presents 15 years from Havel’s life.
