Research shows that sixty percent of the psychological structure of an adult is shaped in the first three years of life, and neglect in that period can have irreversible long-term effects. However, many communities still believe that infants and small children need nothing more than good food and hygiene.
The center that will be founded following this campaign will concentrate on children, especially vulnerable ones, up to six years old, who will be offered education, medical and social assistance while their parents will receive parental and professional counseling. “With this project, UNICEF aims to stimulate the development of all children from as early as birth, and offer the same educational chances to all children. All children are equal irrespective of where they come from and this is why they have to start on their way with equal chances,” said Edmond McLoughney, UNICEF representative in Romania.
