TIFF 2010 screens 240 films from 47 countries

Film fans should head to Cluj-Napoca at the end of May for the ninth Transylvania International Film Festival, arguably the most important such event in Romania. The timeframe: May 29-June 6. The location: Cluj-Napoca. Participants: 400 professionals from the cinema industry. On the festival’s big screens will run 240 films. “TIFF will break record after record,” said director Tudor Giurgiu, the organizer of the festival.

The special guest list is impressive too, featuring renowned filmmaker Wim Wenders (Paris, Texas 1984, Wings of Desire 1987, Buena Vista Social Club 1999), Romanian actors Victor Rebengiuc and Anamaria Marinca, Dutch performer Johanna ter Steege, winner of the Best Actress accolade from the European Film Academy, and director Samuel Maoz, who directed Lebanon, winner of the Golden Lion in the Venice Film Festival.
