The first edition of the Tech Transfer event, dedicated to technology transfer and cooperation between companies, public institutions, and academia, will take place on October 3 as part of the side-events organized around the How to Web Conference.

The event will address the technology transfer process from research organizations to the private sector, in an attempt to turn inventions and scientific results into new products and services that are of benefit to society.

For sustainable economic growth, innovation needs to be at the heart of the start-up ecosystem, with technology transfer helping to bring disruptive technologies to market, creating new opportunities, attracting more investment from outside the region, and supporting revenue growth, giving companies a significant competitive advantage. This process will lead to the creation of highly skilled jobs, attract international talent, and put the Central and Eastern Europe region on the innovation global map.

The Tech Transfer event will bring together around 100 guests and is aimed at all the players in this ecosystem, from researchers from the universities and national R&D institutes, entrepreneurs and start-up founders, to specialists from companies and public institutions, to facilitate communication and collaboration in order to achieve as many technology transfer projects as possible together.

Tech Transfer is the place to share knowledge and discuss the challenges and opportunities of creating research-based products in the region.

Topics covered include: new types of public policy for technology transfer, intellectual property and business development support tools for technology transfer, and mechanisms for investing in technology transfer spin-off companies.

“Technology transfer specialists and researchers from universities and research institutes need a space where they can meet with companies and investors to get to know each other and talk about how they can work together in the future. The panels and examples of best practices will stimulate attendees to get more involved in technology transfer and will encourage companies and institutions to do more and more technology transfer. This event is a step forward in the development of a proactive and supportive community in this area,” says Răzvan Crăciunescu, Associate Professor at Politehnica University of Bucharest, Tech Transfer Lead la How to Web.

Guest and speakers at the event will include: Costin Raiciu (Professor at Politehnica University of Bucharest, Co-Founder, and CEO of the Correct Network spinoff, a company acquired by Broadcom), Gaelle Andreatta (Co-Founder and CTO Apheros), Adrian Curaj (General Director UEFISCDI), Cristina Riesen (Board Member EIC), Karol Szubstarski (Partner at OTB Ventures), Nicoleta Cherciu (Managing Partner Cherciu & Co), Teodor Chirvase (IP & Technology Lawyer, former Legal Director of Product & IP at UiPath), Ionuț Stanimir (Marketing and Communication Director at BCR), Cristian Patachia (Development & Innovation Manager at Orange Romania), Adrian Rotaru (Co-founder spinoff SeedPods) and Horia Cucu (Lecturer at Politehnica University of Bucharest, CEO spinoff Zevo Tech).

The event will take place from 16:00-19:00 at the Control Club, Bucharest. Admission is free and by registration only.
