The Festival of the Christmas Trees benefits the Salvati Copiii Romania (Save the Children Romania) Foundation which runs social and school reintegration projects for children living or working on the streets who have abandoned school as a result of their families' poverty. It also runs programs to prevent children from dropping out of school and social programs such as social and medical assistance and psychological and legal counselling. The festival takes place every year and over time has helped raise over EUR 700,000 which has been invested in its many projects. The highlight is a special auction for Christmas trees made by the best known Romanian designers especially for the occasion. From this year, anybody can make donations by accessing the site: www.festivalulbrazilor.ro. This year, the event's organization committee includes public figures such as Andi Moisescu, Mihaela Radulescu and Andreea Raicu as well as representatives of the business community such as Tereza Munteanu, managing director of Young & Rubicam; Corina Barladeanu, manager of 2activePR; Patrick Gelin, president and GM of BRD – Groupe Societe Generale; Rodica Moise, national coordinator of ILO-IPEC; Liviu Sfrija, president of Henkel Romania; and Dan Moraru, CEO of BBDO Romania.
