“Usually, those who want to acquire aza boat are not very sure what they need from a technical viewpoint. They come to the showroom knowing where they wish to use the boat, how many friends they would travel with and, of course, what budget they have. Generally, these buyers want the boat to be fast, to have a sporty look, to have lower sea gange and of course, to be as cheap as possible,” says Gabriel Hanganu, general manager of Willon Harbour.
Most in demand on the local market were those boats with a good price-quality balance. Willon Harbour has sold boats totaling EUR 500,000 in the first quarter since it launched its showroom, and estimates a turnover of EUR 1.5 million by the end of the year.
Willon Harbour was founded in December 2007 by businessman Gabriel Hanganu, who also controls Ecomed, a company which builds wooden houses. The firm targets the segment of 6-11 meter boats with prices between EUR 8,000 and EUR 350,000. The first company showroom was opened in April.
