The study measures the understanding of a text after pupils finish their first four years of study. Basically, the test verifies pupils' ability to interpret, deliver and integrate information after reading a text or various fragments of the text and whether they can logically interpret the information. After reading the text, they are supposed to answer 15 questions in 90 minutes. Romania is ranked 36th out of 45 country, compared to the 22nd it occupied in the 2001 study.
The study found that Romanian students score an average national score of 489 points of 1000, ranking below the Russian Federation with 558 points and Hungary with 551 points.
Romania is on the same footing as Trinidad, Iran, Indonesia and South Africa
