Romania extradites suspected terrorists to US

Newsroom 23/10/2007 | 15:23

This is the first time Romania has exercised the extradition treaty between the countries. The federal indictment accuses them of seeking to sell surface-to-air missile systems, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, thousands of machine guns and millions of rounds of ammunition to the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia, also known as FARC. The US government pursued charges against them following a series of recorded telephone calls, e-mails and in-person meetings with arms dealer Monzer Kassar between February 2006 and May of this year. It is seeking to extradite Kassar from Spain on the same charges.
