The Dutch bicycle brand Gazelle is now present in Romania through the Ciclop – biciclete urbane store. Gazelle’s history began in 1892, when Willem Kölling and Rudolf Arentsen started importing bicycles from England. They later decided to produce the bikes themselves, and in 1902, named the bicycles Gazelle. In 1992, Gazelle has received the “Royal Company” distinction from Princess Margriet.
“Dutch city bikes are designed for taking part in the busy traffic. The upright seating position allows the rider to overview the traffic. Car drivers, on their part, have a good sight at the bicycles because of the cleverly designed lighting system and integrated light reflection materials”, declared Cor de Jong, Export Director of Royal Gazelle.
In a study by Reader’s Digest, Gazelle won the first place among the most trustworthy European brands. Other city bike brands also found at Ciclop are: Strida, Vanmoof, Kross, Fietsfabriek, Van Gogh and Create.
