The Blue Heron Foundation aims to offer 50 scholarships worth EUR 1,000 each to deserving underprivileged students, through the fifth edition of the Valentine’s Day Charity Ball, with the aid of donors from Romania and the US.
The event will take place on February 12, at Ghika Palace. Over 250 guests have confirmed their presence, with backgrounds in business, diplomacy, press and the civil society. One of the highlights of the evening is the Forget-Me-Not Award, offered to notable contributions in the Romanian civil society. Winners of the previous editions were Dinu Patriciu, Camelia Sucu, Princess Margaret and Anastasia Soare.
“So far, in our eight years of activity, the Foundation has raised USD 760,000 of over 600 donors from the United States and Romania. We are proud to have 115 scholars, of which 44 are at the start of a promising career”, stated Mike Costache, strategy and fundraising director of the Blue Heron Foundation.
“We are one of the few non-governmental organizations in Romania whose founders cover all the administrative costs. Thus, the supporters’ donations and financial contributions are used for scholarships integrally”, added Stefania Magidson, president of the foundation.
The event’s program also includes a fashion show to which the finalists of the Miss Universe Romania competition will participate and a concert.
