The Bucharest National Opera prepares for trademark New Yearaa‚¬a„¢s Marathon

On its fifth run, The New Year’s Marathon at The Bucharest National Opera (Maratonul Revelionului la Opera Nationala Bucuresti) has already become a tradition on Bucharest’s cultural scene. An official trademark since November 2010, this year’s edition will bring Johann Strauss II’s operetta “The Bat” (“Die Fledermaus”) on the last evening of the year.

Part of the distribution is internationally acclaimed baritone Marian Pop, who will be playing the part of Eisenstein. Marian Pop has previously received praises on stages as Florida Grand Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre, Philadelphia Opera, Basel Theater, Staatsoper Stuttgart, Vienna Staatsoper, to name only a few.

Joining Pop, of equally noteworthy performances, Crina Zancu, Petre Burca, Antonela Bârnat (debut), Lucian Corchis, Daniel Filipescu, Mihaela Stanciu, Vasile Chisiu, Simona Neagu, Alin Manzat. Frosch’s part will be interpreted by Pavel Bartos, actor at Odeon Theater. The ballet parts will be interpreted by Cristina Dijmaru, Bogdan Canila, Monica Petrica. Conductor of the ONB choir is Stelian Olariu.

Part of the program will also be a festive dinner, a raffle draw, fireworks, as well as other undisclosed moments and guests.

The spectacle will begin at 18.00 on December 31. The last tickets are available at The Bucharest National Opera’s headquarters, Bd. Mihail Kogalniceanu 70-72, in the intervals 9.00 – 13.00 and 15.00 – 19.00, as well as online on www.bilet.ro.
