Between February 18-24, the Grand Cinema Digiplex in Bucharest aims to give everyone who is looking forward to the Oscars night, the opportunity to see who goes home with the coveted statuette, to watch or see again the movies that are currently on the nominations list.
Besides the movies that are currently in cinemas, the Oscar Movies’ Week proposes to the public movie previews, as well as movies they can only see at this event.
The Oscar Movies’ Week opens on Monday, February 18th, at 8:00 pm, with the preview of Flight, having Denzel Washington as the main character, a role for which he received a Best Actor Oscar nomination. Films in the Best Movie category that will be screened are: Argo, Amour, Les Miserables, Life of Pi, Silver Linings Playbook, Zero Dark Thirty and Lincoln.
Exclusively for Oscar Movies’ Week, on Wednesday, February 20th, at 8:00pm, the projection of the War Witch / Rebel movie directed by Kim Nguyen will take place. The movie was nominated for the Best Movie in a Foreign Language category. War Witch is a disturbing story of a teenage girl forced to fight with a gun in her hands, along with the rebels of civil war in Africa, transforming herself into a soldier-child, just like so many other African children. Komona faces all the horrors of war, falls in love with the Magician – a teenager with white hair, and she wishes to get back to her village burnt down by the rebels so she can burry her parents.
On Thursday, February 21st, starting with 8.00 pm, the screening of Special Therapy / The Sessions movie is scheduled. The movie will be distributed in cinemas in Romania. Winner of the Audience Award and the Special Jury Award at Sundance in 2012, the movie is on the Oscar nominations list with Helen Hunt nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
During the Oscar Movies’ Week A Royal Affair, Anna Karenina, Skyfall, The Impossible will also be screened.
