Open-air cinema Uranus 144 will host French film screenings organized by the Embassy of France and the French Institute from July 24 to August 1. The movies will have both English and Romanian subtitles and access to the festival will be free of charge. Romanian alternative rock group Kumm will open the event. L’Arnacoeur (Heartbreaker), starring Vanessa Paradis and Romain Duris, is Saturday’s film. On Tuesday, Decalage horaire (Jet Lag) tells the story of two very different people who meet randomly in an airport’s waiting room, while on Thursday, in a similar setting, Ma vie en l’air (Love is in the Air) traces the adventures of Yann Kerbec, an airline instructor who is afraid of flying. The final day of the festival will see Romanian jazz singer Maria Raducanu in concert, at 21.00, followed by a screening of the Catherine Deneuve classic Les demoiselles de Rochefort (The Young Girls of Rochefort). The full program is available at www.institut-francais.ro.
