Newsroom 12/09/2011 | 17:15

Filminute 2011, the 6th edition of the festival, starts this year’s edition, with a selection base of 25 films of 60 seconds. The genres vary greatly from “hungry vampires and murderous weeds to moving explorations of the human condition and classic tales retold – the breadth and depth of the collection is remarkable,” the organizers of the festival announce.

This 6th edition also features 16 premieres, more than double the number of previous years. The films this year came from 18 countries on 6 continents and include: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, France, Hungary, India, Japan, Netherlands, Pakistan, Romania, Spain, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and USA.

The international jury of the festival is made up of: Emmy-award winning film producer & journalist, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy; Italian fiction and screenplay writer Carlo Pizzati; FIPRESCI Vice President & Turkish film critic Alin Tasciyan; Sid Lee Creative Agency Co-Creative Director and partner Eva Ven Den Bulcke; and VP, Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development Jon Snoddy.

The 25 shortlisted films are subject to both a public vote and a review by our international jury. The Filminute jury is responsible for the selection of Best Filminute and the awarding of five Jury Commendations.

The Best Filminute award is a unique contrast and complement to the audience-awarded People’s Choice. You can cast your vote for your favorite entry in this year’s festival here.
