There are 19 gastronomic regions in Italy. I anticipated for instance: numerous rice dishes from Lombardy, the bean and grain dishes of Liguria, the numerous pig dishes of Emila-Romagna, the hot chilli dishes of Abuzzo, the Arabic-spiced cuisine of Sicily… and so on.
But what did I get? Upmarket trattoria food! It is undoubtedly the finest trattoria in Romania but everything they offered on their menu could be found elsewhere in town. And this surprises me because they are clearly proud of the quality of their ingredients.
