Much awaited Amy Winehouse concert in Romania, canceled

British artist Amy Winehouse has canceled her European tour for the summer. Ticket owners will be refunded starting June 27 and until August 15. Winehouse will be given “as long as it takes” (in the words of officials representing the artist) to get back into shape, after a disastruous performance that she held in Serbia, where she seemed to be visibly under the effect of substance abuse.

The 27-year-old singer is known to have been on a constant battle with drug and alcohol abuse. Only last month she reportedly spent a week in London’s Priory clinic, which offers treatment for psychiatric problems, drug and alcohol addiction. The Serbian media called the concert that Winehouse held there on June 18 a “scandal,” with the local press labeling it “the worst in the history of Belgrade.” The next day after the Serbia concert, management cancelled this week’s shows in Istanbul and Athens. Further dates in Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Poland, Hungary and Romania have then followed on the cancellation list. The tour had been due to end in Bucharest on Aug 15.

“(…) the management’s decision was taken after a thorough analysis, considering that the artist’s recovery, taking into consideration the fact that the artist’s recovery would have been too short for her to hold a show in Romania at her maximum potential,” declared Sorina Burlacu, concert organizer Events general manager.

The concert was to be held on August 15, on the Iolanda Balas Soter stadium in the capital city. Ticket owners may be refunded at the places that they bought their tickets from. For tickets purchased online, please send an email to contact@eventim.ro or call 021 250 10 08, starting on June 27, until August 15, inclusively.
