Inspired by Nature (Inspire par la nature) is a new exhibition at the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC) focusing on biomimetism – the design and use of innovative materials and fabrics suggested by the natural world. The exhibition is the creation of matriO, a private firm specializing in research into innovative materials and technologies, and is presented with support from the French Institute in Bucharest. Some of the phenomena featuring in the exhibition include the lotus effect (a self-cleaning procedure inspired by the surface of lotus leaves), the velcro effect (taken from the small hooks of the burdock plant) and the butterfly effect (the production of the color blue).

The exhibition is open until July 18, at MNAC, Wednesday to Sunday, from 10.00 to 18.00.
