Romanian theater and film actress Maia Morgenstern will be rewarded with a star on the Romanian Walk of Fame this Sunday, on May 1. The multi-awarded actress is the first woman to receive this form of appreciation after actors Florin Piersic, Victor Rebengiuc, Radu Beligan and the late Amza Pellea.

Internationally known for her role in Mel Gibson’s blockbuster Passion of the Christ, Morgenstern has been nationally known since her 1992 role as Nela in Balanta, a film referred to in the United States as The Oak, set during the waning days of Communist Romania. The actress continues to act at the Jewish State Theatre and other Bucharest theaters, as well as elsewhere in Romania.

The Romanian Walk of Fame is located in the historical center of the capital city, in Piata Timpului. The project is developed by Cocor and Metropolis Theater.
