The Romanian Peasant Museum (Muzeul Taranului Roman) is hosting a photo exhibit dedicated to the daily aspects of life in a nineteenth century Swiss Village. The exhibit is organized in collaboration with the Swiss Embassy in Romania and will take place until April 3.
The exhibit reunites images traditional villages from Swiss cantons, of which some of the most remarkable are, as organizers inform, the house interiors from Montbovon, Stanz, to which are added the late Renaissance influences visible in the Chalamala House. Moreover, the exhibit also showcases images from temporary dwellings in the alpine areas, of village churches, as well as of milk processing farms, an ever-present occupation in Swiss villages. Pictures of villagers in traditional attire will also complete the scenery provided by the exhibit.
The exhibit comprises 60 sepia images, made available to the museum by ethnologist Radu Octavian Maier. Life of a Swiss Village will be open to public access in the Irina Nicolau hall, from Tueday to Sunday, between 10.00 and 18.00 hrs, by April 3. Muzeul Taranului Roman is located on Soseaua Kiseleff 3, in the vicinity of Piata Victoriei subway station.
