Like every year, this summer Kinder Joy of Moving Tennis Trophy tournament is taking place in several cities in Romania. With the support of the Romanian Tennis Federation, the unique non-competitive tournament has already been played in Bucharest and Brasov and will arrive in August in Cluj (29 July – 4 August) and Bistrita (19 – 25 August). The event is notable for its emphasis not on competition, but on the belief that a positive attitude for movement is the mindset that drives today’s youth to become tomorrow’s active adults.

Now in its 7th international edition, the Kinder Joy of Moving Tennis Trophy includes 1-on-1 matches for children aged 9 to 12, as well as various mixed doubles-based matches and parent-child matches. This initiative provides a unique opportunity for parents to get involved in their children’s sporting activities and spend quality time with them on the tennis court, guided by the Code of Fairplay and values such as self-confidence, inclusion, friendship, and respect.

In addition, 4 of the participants of the Romanian edition will be selected for the Tennis Trophy International Master Rafa Nadal Academy, where they will participate in the international edition of the event, together with other children from around the world who promote the same positive values associated with sport and fair play. The Kinder Joy of Moving Tennis Trophy is a place where tennis goes beyond a simple match and becomes an opportunity to team up with others.

“Through its national and international competitions, Kinder Joy of Moving Tennis Trophy is already making a name for itself on the world tennis map. I am delighted to see that these competitions promote fair play and the joy of playing tennis, values that I also share in my academy. With a valuable partner like Kinder and former competitive athletes, we have succeeded in bringing tennis back to the forefront of children’s minds, but also to the parents who accompany them to competitions and training. As a Kinder Joy of Moving ambassador, I aim to promote tennis at the performance level, but also to highlight the importance of the educational values we learn during matches. It’s a pleasure to advise the little athletes and enjoy sharing balls on the court together. I firmly believe that through tennis and the Tennis Trophy competition, children develop qualities such as creativity, motor coordination, courage and team spirit, which will guide their path in life, whether they will shine in this sport or not!” says tennis player Victor Hănescu and Kinder Joy of Moving Tennis Trophy Ambassador.

Kinder Joy of Moving Tennis Trophy tournament differs from classic competitions in that the players make the decisions on the court, there are no umpires, just fun and team enjoyment. The tournament promotes values such as trust, integration, friendship and respect, gender and nationality equality, and is an international competition held annually in over nine countries, including Romania. In our country this is the fourth year that this sporting event is organised, and the first three editions had over 600 participants.

“Through Kinder Joy of Moving Tennis Trophy, a project based on the Kinder Joy of Moving methodology, we want to develop four important pillars in children’s development:motor and cognitive skills, creativity and fair play as well as communication skills. Feedback from the community is extremely important to us, and the increase in the number of participants from one edition to the next confirms that our approach, focusing on fair play, educational values and holistic development, is fully appreciated. Through the Kinder Joy of Moving Tennis Trophy we stimulate children’s creativity and cognitive skills, as tennis is a sport that relies on quick decision-making, planning and game strategy. In addition, in a world where competition can be fierce, we aim to promote mutual respect, sporting ethics and fair play. In this way, we teach children to appreciate both victories and defeats, to respect and develop friendly relationships with opponents and to accept the rules of the game,” say Ferrero representatives.

The Kinder Joy of Moving Tennis Trophy was created in 2006 from an idea of professional tennis player Rita Grande, former Italian champion, in collaboration with the Ferrero Kinder Joy of Moving initiative and with the support of local Tennis Federations. Thanks to the Code of Fairplay that underpins all matches, players have the opportunity to have fun and give their best during matches, in an environment where respect and collaboration are the most important values for children and their families.
