Iggy Pop will perform in Romania, at Peninsula Festival

Punk rock legend Iggy Pop has been confirmed to perform at Tuborg Green Fest Peninsula in Targu Mures. Iggy and the Stooges will perform some of Iggy’s best known tracks, including those from one of their his known albums, Raw Power, announce Peninsula officials.

Iggy Pop, born James Newell “Jim” Osterberg, Jr. on April 21, 1947, is considered an influential innovator of punk rock. Pop reportedly began calling himself “Iggy” after his first band in high school (for which he was drummer), The Iguanas. He was lead singer/songwriter of influential protopunk band The Stooges and became known for his outrageous and unpredictable stage behavior.

The album Raw Power was produced by David Bowie, with whom he collaborated for other songs, as Lust for Life, Passenger, Real Wild Child, China Girl and Tonight.

Besides Iggy Pop, four-day festival Peninsula (taking place on August 25 – 26) is also bringing local bands and performers ROA, Grimus, Suie Paparude, as well as international artists Guano Apes, Stereo Palma, Kasabian, Reality Engine, Nick Warren, Subscribe, Within Temptation, Tiga, Borgore.

Tickets may be purchased in the Eventim chain or online on www.eventim.ro. One-day tickets cost RON 80 (by August 25) and RON 100 (starting on August 25 at 16 hrs). Students that held their baccalaureate this year have a special promotion, with a four day subscription reaching RON 159. Students may pay RON 169 for their subscriptions, while others may fall into the Early Bird promotion and get tickets for RON 179, by July 15. Between July 16 and August 24, they will RON 199.
