“We started this project in order to offer the Balea region more visibility. It is a wonderful place but has enjoyed less attention than the ‘stars' of Prahova Valley, and I thought this was unfair. This is the premise we started from in 2005,” says Arnold Klingeis, the administrator of Balea Ice Hotel.
Klingeis estimates for this year a 30 percent growth in turnover to EUR 40,000. Previous years attracted tens of thousands of tourists from Romania and abroad, many of whom have returned. This year's hotel will have ten accommodation rooms, four of which are included in two apartments. The 2008/2009 version of the hotel will be structured around the topic of classical music: each room will bear the name of a famous composer. Ice Hotel will include a restaurant, bar and terrace and there will also be an ice church.
The novelty this year is that investments will be made into setting up a winter park on top of the Ice Hotel project with ski slopes for adults and children.
