The owners include Dan Pascariu, chairman of the board of UniCredit Tiriac Bank; Razvan Radu, president of UniCredit Tiriac Bank; Robert Rekkers, GM of Banca Transilvania; Radu Ghetea, president of CEC; and George Butunoiu, head hunter at his own HR consultancy company. The idea of investing in a fine dining restaurant came from Butunoiu who talked the other partners into joining the project.
The initial investment in establishing the restaurant was a bit more than EUR 1 million, which is expected to be reimbursed in two to four years, Tiberiu Sandu, one of the owners, said. It has been functioning for six months but had its official opening last week.
Heritage has 48 employees out of whom 20 are working in the kitchen under the command of the chef, David Contant. Sandu expects the restaurant to break even on its investment by the end of the year considering the occupancy rate of the restaurant will be about 70 percent. The capacity is about 140 covers spread throughout several rooms.
The venue, which introduces the gastronomic restaurant concept to Romania, is located in a house that forms part of the national heritage. It was owned in the interwar period by Gheorghe Tatarescu, prime minister during that time.
