Hand-made, one-of-their-kind dolls created by children or local designers will go on auction at UNICEF’s Gala for Education. The event is organized with the support of the Rotary Cetate Timisoara Club and is set to take place on November 18 at the Senator Hotel in Timisoara. This is the first event organized by UNICEF for the benefit of children in Timis county. The purpose of the gala is to raise funding to improve the educational experience of children in Berini, Sacosu Turcesc and Maguri in Lugoj county, Romania. The traditional doll auction will take place during the gala.
Create a doll, help a child is a UNICEF project started in Italy in the 80s. The project was launched in 2006 in Romania. The dolls auctioned are created by children in local kindergartens, elementary schools or high schools, or by local designers. The funds raised during the gala will support the UNICEF campaign Hai la scoala! (Let’s go to school!), which aims to prevent and reduce school dropout rates.
