The 17th edition of the International Book Fair Bookfest will officially open on Wednesday at 12:00 PM in Pavilion B2 at Romexpo, during a ceremony attended by high-ranking officials from Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

This edition brings together 200 exhibitors and 150 publishers from Romania and the Republic of Moldova, this year’s guest of honor. Book lovers will be able to attend over 400 events, with new books signed by Petre Mihai Băcanu, Cristian Tudor Popescu, Gabriel Liiceanu, Radu Paraschivescu, and Tatiana Niculescu being some of the highlights of Bookfest 2024.

Given the unprecedented electoral significance of this year, the organizers of Bookfest have scheduled a debate for Sunday, June 2, at the Arena stage. The debate will begin with the question, “What does a country’s president do?” and will coincide with the launch of the book “What do we want from the country’s president? A civic guide for Romanian voters,” authored by Cristian Preda, Ciprian Mihali, and Sorin Ioniţă. The discussions will feature Cristian Preda, Sorin Ioniţă, and Gabriel Liiceanu, and will be moderated by journalist Ovidiu Nahoi, editor-in-chief of RFI Romania radio station.

The complete program of events can be consulted from May 29 to June 2 at the International Book Fair Bookfest or on its official website.

Entry to Bookfest is free, with participating publishers expecting visitors daily from Wednesday, May 29, to Sunday, June 2, between 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, and 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM (Friday and Saturday).

The Bookfest Book Fair also has local editions in Timişoara, Cluj-Napoca, Târgu Mureş, Braşov, and another international edition in Chişinău.
