Sephardi Culture Days ongoing at the Cervantes Institute in Bucharest

The Bucharest Klezmer Band will deliver a concert tonight, November 5th as part of the Sephardi Culture Days, organized by the Goldstein Goren Israeli Studies Center of the Political Sciences faculty at the University of Bucharest and the Cervantes Institute in Bucharest, with the support of the Spanish Embassy in Romania.

The event is occasioned by the celebration of 100 years since the trip Spanish senator Ángel Pulido, the author of the book “Spanish people without a country. The Sephardi Jews,” took to the Balkans.

The event will continue tomorrow, November 6, with the conference “Angel Pulido and the Sephardim.” The conference will be delivered by writer Jacobo Israel Garzón. A debate will follow with the participation of Silvio Ovadya, the director of the Research Center for the Turkish – Ottoman Sephardi Culture in Istanbul, architect Mihail Caffe and Anca Ciuciu Tudorancea, an associated lecturer at the Jewish Studies Center at the Letters Faculty, the University of Bucharest. The debate will be moderated by dr. Felicia Waldman, the Jewish Studies Center at the Letters Faculty, the University of Bucharest.
