Political cartoons expo opens at Bucharest’s contemporary art museum

The National Museum of Contemporary Art in partnership with the US Embassy is hosting until June 10 an exhibition by Kevin “Kal” Kallaugher, one of the most famous cartoonists of the world.

The exhibition is focused on political cartoons, designed by Kallaugher for The Economist and The Baltimore Sun. The collection comprises also some historical cartoons of US Congress Library in order to set an example of a country’s cultural politics.

Artist’s BIO

Kevin Kallaugher spent ten years working inLondonas a cartoonist for publications such as The Observer, The Sunday Telegraph, Today and The Mail on Sunday.

He returned to theU.S.in 1988 to join The Baltimore Sun as its editorial cartoonist. Betweeen 1988 and 2006, he drew over 4000 for The Sun while continuing to draw two cartoons per week for The Economist.

KAL’s work for The Sun and The Economist has appeared in more than 100 publications worldwide, including Le Monde, Der Spiegel, Pravda, Krokodil, Daily Yomiuri, The Australian, The International Herald Tribune, The New York Times, Time,Newsweek, U.S.News and World Report, and The Washington Post. His cartoons are distributed worldwide by Cartoonarts International and the New York Times Syndicate.

Kevin Kallaugher is also a past President of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists and Cartoonists Rights Network.
