New artistic space opens downtown Bucharest

From July 5, dance and contemporary arts have a new place where artists and the public interested in artistic manifestations can meet: the improvised scene from ZonaD Studio Paradis Serial. This new location will accommodate workshops for choreographers and dancers but also improvisation nights, artistic residencies for developing new dance productions, dance films and experiments at the border of several artistic arts, all offered for free for the young artists.

The project is meant to be an independent laboratory-place with an opening for professional training and artistic research, where both collaboration and individual research will be encouraged. Choreograph Cosmin Manolescu is the art director of this new cultural free space.

At its grand opening, the ZonaD Studio Paradis Serial will present the new program of the center as well as Gabriela Tudor Foundation’s projects: E-Motional Bodies & Cities (www.e-motional.eu) and Paradis Serial.

The concept for this artistic space is not new. It started on 1997 when the International Center of Contemporary Dance was launched under the initiative of the Gabriela Tudor Foundation. The center was also an open space where young choreographers were encouraged to develop their own projects, and dancers were offered workshops with well-known national and international artists.

The ZonaD Studio is located on 3 Iulia Hasdeu Street, near Hala Matache, between Calea Grivitei and Popa Tatu Street. More information about this initative, here.
