Visitors to virtual Bucharest were entertained with a national party with flags, live events and interactive competitions. On December 3, the Christmas lights went on in virtual Bucharest at the same time as in the real world.
“We are starting to build an authentic Romanian community. Until now, we have organized events for them and had live parties every evening. We even prepared the first surprise party for the birthday of one of the members of the community. In addition to this, the first stores in Virtual Bucharest were opened by Romanians willing to get actively involved in promoting Romania through Second Life,” said Aura Tatu, business developer at Chase Corp.
Virtual Bucharest is a 3D replica of real Bucharest which can also serve as an alternative to classic marketing. The pilot edition of the project only includes a detailed reproduction of Revolutiei square with the Athenaeum building, the Royal Palace, the Central University Library and the surrounding streets with commercial space on the ground floor. It is hosted by the Second Life platform, which has over 1.5 million accounts and its own economy and currency – the Linden dollar.
