Documentary film Le chasseur de la Securitate (The Hunter of the Securitate Officers) will premiere in Romania tonight at 8 p.m. at the Elvira Popescu hall in Bucharest. The film, made by Mirel Bran and Jonas Mercier is about Marius Oprea, also called “The Hunter of the Securitate Agents” due to his determination to settle accounts with the former communist regime in Romania. He travels all over the country accompanied by a team of young archeologists to exhume the remains of 10,000 Romanians executed without a trial by the Securitate so that these people are found and their stories are acknowledged. For the first time since the fall of communism, Romanians start turning a new leaf on their painful past.
