Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour in Bucharest: Essential information and guidelines

Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour arrives on Wednesday evening for the first time in Romania, at the National Arena. The British musicians’ second concert will take place on Thursday. Approximately 50,000 fans will be at the stadium over the two evenings. Maisie Peters (UK) and Emaa (RO) will open the concerts, announced by organizers Emagic and Live Nation.

Coldplay’s two concerts in Bucharest have broken all records, marking the fastest sell-out for stadium shows in the history of live music in Romania. Coldplay, founded in 1996, is one of the most successful bands of the new millennium and consists of Chris Martin, Jon Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion. The British group has released seven studio albums, which have sold over 80 million copies worldwide. The band has won numerous awards, including seven Grammy trophies.

The band’s upcoming album, “Moon Music,” will be released this year. Fans in Romania will hear songs from this album for the first time.

Public transportation for Coldplay concert in Bucharest

On both days, between 4:00 PM and 8:30 PM and 10:45 PM and 12:30 AM, there will be two new transport lines and additional buses for two other lines.

  • Establishment of Line 700 with electric buses – this will run at approximately 10-minute intervals in both directions between Piața Unirii and the National Arena, on the route: Piața Unirii, Bd. Unirii, Piața Alba Iulia, Bd. Decebal, Şos. Mihai Bravu, Str. Vatra Luminoasă, Bd. Pierre de Coubertin. The last departure from Piața Unirii to the National Arena will be at 8:30 PM, and the last departure from the National Arena to Piața Unirii will be at 12:30 AM. Buses will stop at the following stations: “Bd. I. C. Brătianu” (in both directions), located on Bd. Unirii near the Unirea Shopping Center, respectively “Piața Unirii 4”, “Piața Unirii 1” and “Piața Unirii 2”, located in Piața Unirii, as well as at the National Arena on Bd. Pierre de Coubertin.
  • Establishment of Line 87 with autonomous trolleybuses – this will run (together with Line 86) at approximately 10-minute intervals in both directions between Piața Romană and the National Arena, on the route: Piața Romană, Bd. Dacia, Str. Traian, Str. Iancu Cavaler de Flondor, Bd. Pache Protopopescu, Str. Matei Voievod, Str. Vatra Luminoasă, Bd. Pierre de Coubertin. The last departure from Piața Romană to the National Arena will be at 8:30 PM, and the last departure from the National Arena to Piața Romană will be at 12:30 AM. Trolleybuses will stop at the stations: “Piața Romană” (from the Piața Romană roundabout), and at the National Arena on Bd. Pierre de Coubertin.
  • Supplementing the circulating fleet on Line 90 with autonomous trolleybuses – these will run in the afternoon at approximately 10-minute intervals. The last departure from Semănătoarea to the National Arena will be at 8:30 PM, and the last departure from the National Arena to Semănătoarea will be at 12:30 AM.
  • Supplementing the circulating fleet on night lines N1 and N10 with hybrid buses – these will run between 10:30 PM and 12:30 AM at approximately 10-minute intervals. Transport for spectators will be provided on the median ring (Şos. Mihai Bravu) by trams on lines 1 and 10, scheduled to run at 6-8 minute intervals.

Due to the very large number of spectators expected, to reach the stadium, organizers recommend using public transport to avoid traffic jams. Organizers will not provide parking spaces.

Access to Coldplay concert in Bucharest

General public access will begin at 5:00 PM, through the three entrances on Bulevardul Basarabia, Strada Maior Ion Coravu, and Bulevardul Pierre de Coubertin.

To avoid possible congestion, organizers recommend that the public consider the area for which they have purchased tickets and access through the indicated artery, consulting the information below and the stadium map. Each participant’s access to the event space will be exclusively through the indicated entrance.

  • Bulevardul Basarabia (Standing tickets, tribunes, Kubik Experience packages, Supersolis Experience)
  • Strada Maior Ion Coravu (Standing tickets, lodges, M tribune, tribunes, Ultimate Spheres Experience packages, Floris Early Entry Experience, Kaotica Lounge Experience, Calypso Seats)
  • Bulevardul Pierre de Coubertin (Standing tickets, tribunes)

VIP ticket holders in the categories Ultimate Spheres Experience, Floris Early Entry Experience, Kaotica Lounge Experience, Kubik Experience, Supersolis Experience, and Calypso are asked to consult the personalized schedule information corresponding to the package they hold, received at the email addresses used for ticket purchase.

Infinity ticket holders can pick them up from the ticket office on Bulevardul Basarabia, based on the confirmation received by email from the issuing ticketing platform and a valid ID.

Spectators who decide to arrive early at the stadium will have the opportunity to spend time in the Maior Ion Coravu area, which will be available to the public on both concert days from 12:00 PM until the end of the event, set up as a waiting area with all facilities, bars, food trucks, merchandise stands, and more. Access to the Maior Ion Coravu waiting area does not imply access to the event before the gates open.

Opening acts at Coldplay concert in Bucharest

Emaa will take the stage around 6:30 PM, Maisie Peters will perform around 7:15 PM, and Coldplay’s concert will start around 8:30 PM. Spectators are reminded that the schedule is indicative and, due to the nature of live events, it may change independently of the organizers – the organizers recommend that event participants consult the site www.emagic.ro and social media pages (www.facebook.com/emagic.romania/, www.instagram.com/emagic_romania/) to stay up to date with possible changes.

Eco-friendly Bracelets

  • Spectators will receive eco-friendly bracelets made of compostable material, which they are asked to return after the show at the designated points so they can be reused in subsequent concerts of the tour, thus reducing waste.

Children/Minors

  • Children under 12 are not recommended to attend the concert due to loud sound and lights. Access for children of any age requires the purchase of a full-price ticket for them.
  • Access for minors under 16 is only possible if they are accompanied by an adult, who must also have their own ticket. One adult can accompany up to 4 minors.

Free Drinking Water

  • During the event, there will be free drinking water stations for spectators. Refreshments, alcoholic beverages, and food will be sold inside the National Arena. All drinks will be served only in reusable cups, for which a deposit of 15 lei will be charged for the first cup, which can be exchanged for a clean cup when purchasing a new drink. The deposit can be recovered at designated points upon returning the cup. At the cup return points, a maximum of 4 cups will be accepted for return at a time per person. The deposit can only be recovered if the returned cups are intact (broken/damaged/bent/melted cups, cups with writing, stickers, or chewing gum stuck on them, ash inside, etc., are not accepted). All products can be purchased with cash or a bank card at all bar points, but due to the large number of participants at the venue, card payments may experience delays.

Spectators with lawn tickets have access to the bars and toilets on the ring, as well as to the food trucks outside, using the specially arranged stairs.

Permitted Items

  • Access to the concert area is allowed with: empty reusable plastic (sports type) bottles with a capacity of up to 750 ml (PET containers are not accepted), compact cameras, lighters, medications (such products are only allowed if accompanied by a prescription, medical letter, or any other replacement document, with a maximum daily dose), insulin, inhaler spray for asthma. SPF products in plastic containers with a capacity of up to 100 ml are also allowed.

Prohibited Items

  • Access to the concert area is not allowed with: drinks and food purchased outside the venue perimeter, glass objects (including perfume bottles of any quantity, any other bottles, or deodorants, etc.), PET bottles, aluminum cans, cans, fireworks, banners supported by sticks, sprays, lasers, chairs, weapons, blunt objects (including laptops), chains, umbrellas, pets, backpacks, motorcycle helmets, large luggage larger than an A4 sheet, selfie sticks, professional cameras, audio-video recording devices of any kind or GoPro devices, bicycles, motorcycles, scooters, and skateboards.
  • At all three stadium access areas, there will be lockers (key lockers) in limited numbers. If available, these can be used for a fee (25 lei, including VAT, per locker).

Organizers recommend spectators bring raincoats. Umbrellas will not be allowed and will be retained at the event space access filters as they can injure other concert participants. For the safety and comfort of spectators, organizers also recommend using sun protection (hats, SPF – access with SPF in plastic containers with a capacity of up to 100 ml is allowed).

Recording of any kind of the show is strictly prohibited. The artist’s management may confiscate any audio-video recording device used by event participants. Strobe lights that may harm people with photosensitive epilepsy might be used during the show. Smoking inside the National Arena is strictly prohibited, except in specially arranged and marked areas. Those who do not comply with this rule are subject to a fine.
