A new Romanian comedy full of surprises is taking shape. Filming for “Klaus and Barroso,” written by Adrian Nicolae, Cosmin “Micutzu” Nedelcu, and Bogdan Theodor Olteanu, began on July 31st in Bucharest.

Produced by Bold Film Studio in collaboration with Grupa B, Tangaj Production, and Avanpost Media, “Klaus and Barroso” features Adrian Nicolae and Cosmin “Micutzu” Nedelcu in the lead roles. The first day’s atmosphere on the film set is captured in a clip available on Bold Film Studio’s YouTube channel.

“The film tells the story of two brothers, together through thick and thin. Cosmin and I have dreamt for a long time of starring in a film about our friendship, ever since we didn’t understand that if you want something to happen, you have to take matters into your own hands. As for Bogdan, I don’t know what he dreamt of at that time, as we’re the kind of guys who don’t talk about their past. For Grupa B, our small creative endeavor, this project is just the beginning,” says Adrian Nicolae.

A cunning bartender must urgently pay off a debt. He convinces his brother, a hot-tempered bodyguard, to co-organize a bachelor party without the knowledge of their club’s bosses. But lies are quickly exposed, and chaos ensues at the club. Can two impossible loves and a dash of honesty save them? Audiences will find out in January 2024 in theaters nationwide.

“The film is primarily a comedy. The story is about two brothers, one resourceful and ambitious but lacking the necessary means to fulfill his dreams, so he always resorts to shortcuts that inevitably complicate things. The other is more conservative, deeply rooted, but quite grumpy and slow to adapt to new events. Who am I playing, who is Adrian playing? Our goal is simple: to bring people into the cinema and make sure they leave with a smile,” emphasizes Cosmin “Micutzu” Nedelcu.

Alongside Cosmin “Micutzu” Nedelcu and Adrian Nicolae, the cast includes actors: Mădălina Craiu, Victoria Raileanu, Şerban Pavlu, Alexandru Ion, Cezar Antal, Alin Florea, Rolando Matsangos, Vlad Drăgulin, Vlad Brumaru, Carol Ionescu, Codrin Boldea, Mădălina Stoica, Bogdan Farcaș, Alex Mircioi.

“For me, it’s both fun and educational to write with Adrian and Cosmin. They have a lot of humor, I don’t necessarily, but I hope it rubs off. What I find productive is that we bring slightly different biographies and competencies to the table, and this is both a source of tension and a premise for a good movie,” confesses Bogdan Theodor Olteanu.

“Klaus and Barroso” represents another important collaboration with Bold Film Studio, following the success of the movie “Taximetriști,” released earlier this year in cinemas and in April on Netflix.

“With ‘Taximetriști,’ we consider that we achieved our objective of bringing a new category of film to the market – a high-quality commercial film that appeals to both general audiences and more sophisticated viewers. With this second project, we aim to consolidate our position and attract an even larger audience to the theaters. ‘Klaus and Barroso’ is a pure, accessible, family-friendly comedy with a cast of highly esteemed actors that we believe will establish a durable comedic duo in Romanian cinema,” says Cristian Anastasiu, Executive Director of Bold Film Studio.

The director of photography is Mihai Marius Apopei, editing is handled by Tudor D. Popescu, and the art direction and costumes are by Alexandra Panaite. The film is made through collective direction, a formula in which roles and responsibilities are spontaneously and harmoniously distributed among multiple team members.
