During the school year 2008- 2009, 22 teachers will be involved in the project. The teachers will be representing schools from cities on the Danube River with a total number of 500 students who will be exposed to eco messages. Project managers estimate that this first target group will multiply environment information, passing on the acquired knowledge to colleagues, friends, family and community and involving them in environmental protection initiatives.
The project aims to help preserve the Danube and convince and educate the younger generation to get involved in protecting the Danube’s ecosystem. In Romania, this project represents an initiative of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River launched last year. The educational set entitled The Blue Danube Book was translated and adapted by the associations “Save the Danube and the Delta” and MaiMultVerde with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Durable Development. In the future, this project will be implemented in schools with the support of the Ministry of Education.
